traditional lawn with contemporary curves
This large, traditionally-lawned garden needed an innovative rethink to encourage travel up the full length of the garden.
Breaking away from the usual expanse of turf extending from the house to the end of the garden, the lawn is divided into seven contiguous circles, connected by a softly winding gravel path.
Enticing you on, this sinuous path leads you up the garden and round the corner on a beguiling journey with an unseen end.
The metal wisteria arch frames the house behind you and the garden beyond, a gateway into the secluded verdure. Vibrant greens from the acers, laburnum and euphorbia contrast with the reds and purples of the planting palette. In the borders, grasses and airy perennials create movement, encouraging you up the garden to the charming circular pergola seating area, tucked around the corner.
This garden is a tranquil space for family and friends, a relaxed green haven that is at once both a traditional garden and an entirely new experience.
